Knife in the Straits
Geração Editorial, 2006

"A type of Romeo and Juliet of the 21st century. This novel, by the author of the biography of Colonel Fawcett, tears apart the language and the good manners in a real transgressive and even shocking work, which have been scandalizing adults and captivating the youth, who identifies themselves with the characters and are thrilled with their crazy adventures. A book that certainly divides opinions - even so it has been taken and discussed openly in modern schools. To read and reflect".

Quilombo, a Adventure in the Vão das Almas
Editora Mercuryo, 1995

"Hermes is a reporter. One of the best that I've known. He has the basic quality of the great ones; he emotionally involves himself with his works and that appears clearly in his documentaries and in this book about a subject of great importance. It was like this with Washington Novaes with the Xingu series; David Nasser with his great news features; Caco Barcelos with the police exposure; Pierre Verger photographing the black people and Hemingway describing the Spanish Civil War, etc".
